What is the pass rate at Joe's Driving School?
Pass rate is consistently higher than the national average, thanks to expert tuition, patient coaching, and lessons tailored to each learner. While the national pass rate is typically around 45–50%, most of my students at Joe’s Driving School achieve success on their first attempt. Contact us to learn more about our success stories and recent first-time passes!
Every learner is different, but with the right support and personalised coaching, you’ll be in the best position to pass with confidence.
Is an Intensive Driving Course Worth It? How It Works
If you’re keen to pass quickly, an intensive course can be a smart investment.
We begin with a brief assessment drive to gauge your current skills, then create a customised schedule of longer daily sessionstypicallyy 2–4 hours, so that everything you learn stays fresh.
You’ll progress faster, book your practical test for the end of the course, and take it in the same fully insured car you trained in, with your instructor by your side.
Ideal if you’re on a deadline for work, study, or travel, or if you simply want to reach test-ready confidence in the shortest time possible.
How many lessons do I need?
The number of lessons varies for each learner — it depends on your experience, confidence, and how quickly you pick things up.
The DVSA recommends around 45 hours of professional driving lessons, supported by about 20 hours of private practice, to give most learners the skills and confidence needed to pass the test.
At Joe’s Driving School, I tailor lessons to your pace. Some learners may be ready with fewer hours, while others need more time — and that’s completely normal. I’ll keep clear records of your progress and give you honest feedback, so you’ll know exactly when you’re ready to take your test with confidence.
Do you offer automatic or manual driving lessons?
At Joe’s Driving School, I offer Manual Lessons.
-
Manual lessons are ideal if you want the flexibility to drive both manual and automatic cars once you pass.
Every lesson is tailored to your needs, with the same patient, professional, and supportive approach.

Can you help me with my theory test?
Yes — at Joe’s Driving School, I’ll support you with your theory test as well as your practical driving. I can recommend the best apps, study materials, and practice questions to help you prepare, and I’ll explain road signs, hazard perception, and driving theory during your lessons to reinforce your knowledge.
If you’d like extra support, I can also arrange theory and practice sessions to go through tricky topics together and build your confidence before the test.
With the right preparation and guidance, most learners pass their theory test first try.
